More Road Trippin’
Back again with more from the road trip!
I got a cracking set of drone images while we were away, so i’m taking the opportunity to refresh the cafe images I have on display and have got some Top Down drone shots printed to hang there. You can see tyre tracks in the first one, I’m sure I have some with kangaroo tracks somewhere too. You can also see the ripples in the shallow water in the second one. Printed works are really different to online. I am busy trying to convince my friend to stop procrastinating and over thinking and just get some done. You know who you are….get it done! You know I’m right.
We got an absolutely gorgeous sunset on the first night, the colour changes were really very dramatic. Minimal edits going on with these four images, thats just how beautiful it looked. The first was taken at 6.46pm, the 4th just 40 minutes later at 7.26pm. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I rarely have people in my work…twice in less than an hour is highly unusual! My fellow togs taking left and centre stage in these ones.
Look how fabulous those reflections are! It’s also a wonderful way to show just how shallow that point of the lake was. Literally once a few centimetres so it was easy to walk through.
So I travelled with a lot of gear, and i mean A LOT! Half at least I didn’t use. Getting things packed and sorted before going away I thought I had lost a couple of my IR filters. Could not find them anywhere. I had my favourite one on the camera, but still, thats about $250 worth of filters I was beginning to think were in the top drawer in a small bedroom in an AirBnB in London! Just when you give up and quit looking, that’s the time they show up! Tidied them away safely obviously! Safe and secure and promptly forgotten where they were. Didn’t use them of course, stuck with my trusty favourite 590Nm that post processes to give the pink feel I enjoy soo much. Pink trees at the now NOT Pink Cliffs and also featuring that abandoned bus that I shared last time in the astro shot.
Ahh yes... the yearly calendar debate. I actually told myself I wouldn’t even mention it this year…yet here I am.
It’s that time of the year again where almost every photographer publishes their calendar to chart the next circuit of the sun. Over recent times I’ve done the same with the offering for 2024 being Melbourne at night and not light painting. My Calendar was primarily sold through my sister site We Are Luminance (http://weareluminance.au).
So I've quick questions for you lovely people.
Question 1 - Would you be interested in a wall calendar?
And only if you answered yes to Question 1
Question 2 - Light Painting or something else?
Question 3 - if something else - what?
Wall calendars I find are an unusually hard sell. I mean the ‘Art’ is there. It’s dynamic, with a new new image to enjoy each month. They are significantly cheaper a framed work.
Its a great way to support a little business or artist you enjoy at low cost. Brilliant gift idea at a traditional gift giving time. But... It’s still a hard sell…I got left with half my order last year.
I know people do still buy them. I still see so many photographers release them every year.
Such low cost obviously means low profit, and certainly disproportionate to the effort it takes to create, market and distribute.
So maybe you can tell i’m less than enthused about them this year, and add to that, even the dubious platform of Instagram isn’t there anymore either - coz I don’t do IG (you knew that!)
Not entirely a pre-order, however if I do get enough interested feeedback I will take get one set up. I’d do that for you.
That’s love, that is! :-)
so let me know
